UMNO made Indians politically irrelevant

August 24, 2012

Last week MIC president Datuk G.Palanivel expressed disappointment over the public Services Commission (PSC) for not including any Indian Malaysians in the recruitment of 21 graduates by the works ministry. In the same week Datuk G.Palanivel expressed happiness over the PSC statement that mentions of wanting to increase Indian counter staff from 1000 to 3000 at government officers. Instead of demanding for more civil service intake MIC is protecting and giving excuses for the UMNO led government. Indians taken in by civil services and local government agencies are mostly contract workers and not permanent civil servants. When the Indians were dominating health and education services Malaysia had a world class service. All these have become history. Indians must correct all these injustice by voting out the UMNO led government.

MIC sings praises each time there is an announcement of wanting to increase Indian Malaysian in civil service intake. But when there are no Indians taken in MIC is quite. Despite all the empty promises MIC, PPP and other mosquito Indian parties in BN will continue to support UMNO. In 1971 Indians were 17.4% of the civil service but this has dropped to 5.12% in 2005 and now it dropped further to 4.1%. The bulk of Indian civil servants are in Tamil schools. In the police forces Indians account for only 3%. Despite the solid support from Indians to BN before 2008, they are deceived and cheated by MIC/UMNO government. Even after 2008 UMNO has not changed its racist attitude and arrogance.

The government will say that Indians don’t apply for jobs in civil service but those non Malays in government service know how conveniently those applications are thrown into the rubbish bins. Malaysia is the only country where ethnicity is the main criteria for civil service intake and not qualifications and capability to perform. Malaysia exports talents and professionals and imports illegal and legal migrant workers. One World Bank report says that Malaysia could have attracted 5 times more FDIs if not for NEP. 1.5 million Malaysian professionals are working overseas with about half of them in Singapore. But the BN government is dreaming to form a world class civil service. As long as UMNO in power there is no hope of Indians increasing their presence in civil service?

UMNO will only take proactive actions when their vote bank is affected. They want the Indian votes but they don’t want to give a fair share to Indian community. They think Indians are beggars and therefore Indians don’t deserve any job or business opportunities except hampers and rice bags. That is MIC’s achievement after 55 years in coalition with UMNO. During elections and by elections it is MIC that distributes hampers to poor Indians on behalf of UMNO to support BN.

MIC has successfully produced stateless Indians, criminal Indians and poor and unskilled Indians. Indians need a political change. The current political system neglects and side lines Indians. UMNO made Indians politically irrelevant. This has to change. Indians must become politically relevant to play a key role in the development of this country. Indians need to redeem their dignity and pride. It’s now or never

MAIKA HOLDINGS BHD

May 27, 2010

27/5/2010

Maika holdings bhd finally caught UMNO’s attention during the Ulu Selangor buy elections. A group of private individuals got together under the banner of G Team Resources & Holding Bhd (G Team) and made an offer to purchase all Maika holdings shares for 80cents per shares from its current shareholders. These businessmen are not known for any services to Indian community. Yet they made the offer to buy Maika shares and to finally sell of the assets and finally close the Maika chapter once and for all. No businessman will invest (80cents per share for 125 million shares) for nothing or for purely corporate social responsibility purpose. The talk in town is that PM Najib finds Maika holdings becomes a contentious issue in every elections with the Indian community and therefore he has decided to settle this scandal. Only when Indian vote bank deserted BN his attention turned to settling the Maika issue.

He must have approached Tan Sri Gnanalingam and a group his supporters from the business community settle the issue for him. Najib’s concern towards Indian community can be seen in the way he has decided to settle the issues. He could have used government assistance to revive and turn the poor Indians investment into profitable investment such as PNB. But inturn approached private individuals to settle off Maika holdings and in the process absorbed all those culprits who brought Maika holdings to this state. He is more concerned with removing the Maika holdings issue than to find a satisfactory compensation to the thousands of investors who did not see any profit what so ever for the past 27 years. He is only interested in securing Indian votes for BN than solving their problems. There will be enough businessmen to serve his purpose for they may not get an opportunity to do a favor to Prime Minister. The BN government has no commitment to uplift Malaysian Indians.

PM Najib must initiate an investigation into Maika holdings scandal. Those who have abused or misappropriated in Maika holdings must be brought to justice. It is unfortunate that the Indian community could not see the callous attitude of UMNO in the Maika holdings scandal. Maika holdings went down the drain because MIC leaders had unlimited protection from UMNO. The Indian community could not remove MIC leaders from Maika because of the unreserved support from UMNO to MIC. Malaysian Indians have woken up and are holding MIC accountable for their investment. The shareholders approval for further action must be obtained before Maika holdings are sold to a third party. Najib should not take Indian voters for granted.

With all the lucrative offers given to GLCs, they must be financially strong and reinvesting by now. They must be in the for front of economic growth unfortunately not. Govt must rethink the way the GLCs are managed. GLCs must be performance based or else fired. Decision making management must be multi racial and get the best based on delivery. The GLCs now are not competitive, profitable no good governance e.g. sime darby,

Issues Concerning Indians in Ulu Selangor

April 14, 2010

14/4/2010

Ulu Selangor is a parliamentary seat that was occupied by a Deputy Minister for the past 20 years. He was deputy minister for welfare and women affairs. Yet in Ulu Selangor there is high level of poverty, unemployment, juvenile delinquency among the Indian youths. The MIC deputy minister for the past 20 years has clearly failed to solve these pressing problems of the Indian community. Estates taken up for development did not provide housing, jobs and social security for these estate workers. Taman Bukit Teratai was a NLFCS estate and they have provided housing and infrastructures for the estate community. The other nearby estates did not provide houses but built houses for workers to buy. Therefore there are low cost flats and low cost houses all over Batang kali and Kuala Kubu Bharu. The people residing in these flats and low cost houses work in nearby factories and other odd work. There are also large numbers of teenagers without work and have become thugs and alcoholics.

Many people Ulu Selangor have Red ICs and old people look worn off after years working in estates in harsh conditions. Now they are suffering from ailment and old age some of whom are depending on their children. Many do not have government welfare scheme and with meager income lead a very simple and subdued life.  Their common problem is welfare help, medical support and support and retirement benefits. This happened in the constituency of MIC MP who was deputy welfare minister. MIC/BN has led down the people. MIC leaders are surrounded by thugs. People cannot approach them. Recently a Maika holding shareholder questioned Datuk Seri Samy velu about Maika investments. He was bashed, carried and thrown out of the hall. Anybody question gets whacked by thugs. No political leader of any other party will do this to his/her constituent except Datuk Seri Samy Velu and MIC leaders. That’s why the Indian community is left behind BN and MIC. BN never bothered to come out with any affirmative action or plan for this marginalized people. (more…)
