History subject in Malaysia has turned into BTN indoctrination and myth

January 3, 2011

The public allegation of two history book authors that the secondary school history textbooks are being used to promote ketuanan Melayu (Malay lordship over other Malaysians) and UMNO indoctrination is well known and understood by Malaysians for a long time. Malaysians who do not agree have developed empathy and apathy towards the governance of education by the UMNO led BN government.  Those who do not learn from history will be condemned by it said a great man. UMNO perverts have degraded and distorted history so much, that this subject has lost all its sanctity and relevance to Malaysian students themselves. The purpose of studying history is to learn from the past as to how the present society and civilization came about. This knowledge helps the present generation to understand the undercurrent that underlies the change process. It enables community leaders and decision makers make decisions that are relevant and resolve conflicts. A distorted history is no use to anybody except the UMNO fundamentalists who are on the war path to destroy the Malaysian nation.

After 53 years of independence, UMNO is still not at peace with history and that it wants to change the history to glorify and amplify their role in history. Looks like the UMNO wallahs are laying the seed of desolation and dissolution of Malay society in particular and Malaysia in general. Distortions and lies cannot stand the test of time. Truth has to be reliable, universal and natural to be accepted by all.Unfortunately these UMNO wallahs who have no regard for truth, will decide the contents of the history subject. Looks frightening isn’t it?

There are Malaysians who feel that nothing can be changed politically and that the way forward is to migrate to another country. Malaysia has lost many able, skilled and talented minds. The deputy minister in Prime Minister’s office Datuk K. Devamany said that about 734,000 Malaysians left the country since 2000 to work abroad. But Devamany refuse to accept that the racial marginalizations by UMNO wallahs are the root cause of Malaysians migrating abroad.   More Malaysians will leave if this is the way our education system is micro managed by UMNO racists. Efforts to set up Talent Corporation with 30 million allocated, will go down the drain and wasted.

History which is distorted and perverted will not interest students and teaching becomes a nightmare to history teachers. Historian Pearl Buck said that if you want to understand today, you have to search yesterday. History itself may suffer from inherent distortions and together with UMNO’s prejudice and adulteration students will learn the history which is a myth. On Oct 23, Education Minister Muhyiddin Yassin announced that History will be made a must-pass subject for the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia from 2013. The ministry will also introduce a revised SPM History curriculum in 2017, for in that year those who begin Form One in 2013 would have reached Form Five. Fresh elements to be incorporated when the History syllabus begins its new cycle are ‘patriotism’, ‘citizenship’ and ‘the constitution’, which by extension implicate the so-called social contract. History subject will be used as vehicle for BTN indoctrination and islamization starting from Form one itself. Looks like every other nation progressing except Malaysia.

BTN indoctrination runs across Sekolah Kebangsaan

January 14, 2010

Malaysians get divided and feel the division of race and religion as soon as their children enter standard one in Sekolah Kebangsaan. From standard one to secondary school then to local university or to any government office, Malaysians are always reminded of their race and religion.

The moment we enter government offices, the pegawai (officer) wants to know our race and religion. How is 1Malaysia possible? UMNOPUTRAS in parliament and in media always question the non Malays on how to foster national unity when 55% of Indian children are in Tamil schools and 90% Chinese children are in Chinese schools.

The Sekolah Kebangsaan is centred on agama class, so much so that class streaming, lesson planning, students get together based on race and religion. Over the years the school teachers are filled with one race replacing the experienced and dedicated teachers.

Teachers recruited are indoctrinated by BTN programmes which indoctrinates UMNO supremacy, ketuanan Melayu, Islamisation at the expense of national unity. Even if the individual teacher feels other wise and wants to speak for justice or equality, the school administration will see to it that he/she implements their racial agenda of divide and rule in the Sekolah Kebangsaan.

It’s too much racism and religious education in Sekolah Kebangsaan that non-Malays are driven away to vernacular schools even though the Tamil schools do not have good facilities. Chinese community has equipped their schools better than government schools. Yet the UMNO Wallahs do not understand why the non Malays are not sending their children to Sekolah Kebangsaan.

The Islamic agenda in Sekolah Kebangsaan is imposing and overwhelmiing on non Malay children. It scares and startles the non Malay children. Parents are alarmed and are enrolling their children in vernacular schools.

It’s a nightmare of six years of children’s primary education if parents do not want to go to vernacular schools.

Does the Minister of Education care?  Is he bothered to know the real reason for the decline in non Malay children in Sekolah Kebangsaan?

It is a pity that programs like BTN indoctrinates school teachers with the UMNO agenda of ketuaan Melayu and the nonexistent social contracts. Islamisation and racism were allowed to fester and permeate the education service for so long that our country is divided into pieces and real peace has gone out of the window as the nation witnessed last weekend with the fire-bombing of churches.

The Education Minister must review the school system to bring about analytical thinking, critical thinking and allow a culture of questioning into our curriculum.

For that to happen, BTN indoctrinations on school teachers must stop.

Need to re-orientate the BTN instructors’ mind set or replace them

December 6, 2009

The continued denial of racial elements in Biro Tata Negara (BTN) or National Civics Bureau by its progamme head Ahmad Maslan and other UMNO leaders reveals the depth of racism ingrained in the mindset of UMNO members.

Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak’s 1Malaysia rhetoric has a long way to go before it can ever be realised. The nation has to undergo a major surgery to carve out 50 years of divisiveness, racism and discrimination which is threatening to segregate the nation even further.

Firstly all the indoctrinated and brainwashed instructors have to be removed and sent for rehabilitation.

Malaysian companies are facing global economic downturn and financial hardship. The country, at its critical economic and social revival, does not need indoctrination or misinformation. What is in crucial deficit now is encouragement and support for critical and independent thinking.

The federal government needs to strengthen our democratic social institutions to foster and develop their commonalities and similarities. We need to amplify and celebrate our coexistence till today despite our diversities, problems and challenges. Instead BTN, which operates directly under the Prime Minister, is sowing the seeds of hatred and parochialism.

How foolish of the Malaysian government to have allowed this to operate when times have changed with a rallying cry for global thinking.

Worst still Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, Women, Family and Community Development Minister, Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Datuk Seri Noh Omar, Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil and the Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Ahmad Maslan, with direct charge of the BTN portfolio, can’t even recognise the racial undertones of BTN programs.

This program, conducted right under the Prime Minister’s nose, clearly spells out an impending catastrophe by inciting deeper racial polarisation. Ironically, Najib happily indulges in a verbal diarrhea about his 1Malaysia concept, which zeroes in on national unity through racial integration.

How naive are these UNMO leaders!

As such, I strongly support the decision made by the Selangor state government not to send any participants to Biro Tata Negara. I also call upon Najib to scrap the programme for the future of the country.
